Ribnica na Pohorju and its surroundings can be explored on the arranged, less
traffic, cycle routes.

Ribnica na Pohorju lies between the Valleys of the Velika and Vuhreščica streams at the altitude
of 715 meters. It is surrounded by meadows, fields, and vast Pohorje forests. In the Roman times,
run through Ribnica na Pohorju a road connecting Slovenske Konjice (Roman Lotodos) with the
Drava Valley. From the center of the village, the Church of St. Bartholomew, to the St. Leonard’s
Church, leads the Way of the Cross with fourteen chapels from 1774.

A museum of antiquities Grubelnik is an ethnological museum with over 400 years old exhibits.
Local man Alojz Grubelnik collected tools, which were once used for farm work, housekeeping,
and other activities. All the tools are from Ribnica na Pohorju and its local area.

The outdoor museum Josipdol was built by locals. Here you can see a glass furnace, a water
wooden chute, charcoal pile, and a traditional Pohorje wooden house. The wooden chute was
once thirteen kilometers long and has served for the transportation of wood from local forests.
Along the chute stood men, who were making sure that the wood did not get stuck. Josipdol is
a young village from the eighteenth century and is known for shutting down the last Pohorje
Glassworks hundred years ago.

Tonalite quarry was the heart Josipdol since 1880. Before and after the war, there were over
300 men working in five quarries. For the most part, they were manufacturing cubes for the road
pavements. Only one of all those quarries operates today and employs eight workers.
